The actual divorce itself (called an “absolute divorce”) is the easiest part of this process. If you’ve been a resident of the state for six months and physically separated from your spouse for one year, then you’re eligible for a divorce. A separation agreement or distribution of property is not required prior to obtaining an absolute divorce.
